My Alma Mater Speech

Alma Mater Speech

(2007 – 2008)

Honored guests and friends, pompous parents, proficient teachers, respective secondary school principal, adored juniors, fellow seniors, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant and wonderful afternoon.

Today is not just an ordinary afternoon for all of us, because personally, I have these mixed feelings which I cannot explain. I can feel the excitement, the overwhelming happiness, the profound gratefulness and even the unavoidable worries.

Yes. I feel much of anticipation because I can see myself in the midst of this mob where students like me are in dazzling and graceful gowns as well as stylish polo for the males. I just can’t visualize walking leisurely in this pompous opening of a formal ball where I am fully accepted in a society. And this excitement is overwhelmed with happiness which this afternoon as memorable and meaningful for all of us the juniors and seniors.

Surrounded with delight, I am more thankful and pleased to our dear Alma Mater. No amount of money could compensate the intelligence, the cleverness, the knowledge and the unconditional love that our Alma Mater has impulsively poured out upon us. The opportunities and the experiences that we have had during our stay in our Alma Mater, shaped us into good and liable citizens of our country. Jasaan National High School has shared great time and efforts to make us totally developed individuals. And so, let our persistent teachers be the recipient of our booming scream of gratefulness and immense appreciation. Without you, our dear teachers, we will never be what we are now.

To our dear parents, who generously supported us through the years. Through thick and thin, our parents are always there for assistance, love, devotion and commitment without condition. No one could ever replace the never-ending love of our ever patient parents.

To our friends, classmates and schoolmates, whom we can lean on in times of joys and tears, successes and failures, the friendship and camaraderie, the challenges, the trials and hard works, we take together. These are all treasures we should cherish for the rest of our lives.

To the Almighty Father, for giving us wonderful lives to live and for giving us many beautiful chances in this world. To you all, we salute in recognition.

Instigated with gratefulness, are the inescapable doubts because in a month or two we shall be leaving the thresholds of our dear Alma Mater, leaving the good times and good memories we shared together. But leaving does not always mean goodbye, instead, bringing into our lives the wisdom, the knowledge and the morals which have inculcated and implanted by our dear mentors. The values and knowledge will serve as our key for a bright future – pushing ourselves towards the standards of excellence.

As we face the new episode of our lives, with strong values and academic excellence, we will be able to succeed in all our endeavors. The assurance and vigor that our Alma Mater has showered to us surely brings us to the reality of our hope and ambitions in life.

May this solemn event of ours be not just an ordinary school activity rather may it be symbolic and momentous enough to be treasured in our hearts.

And as we enjoy this afternoon, it is our deep hope that all those who become instruments for making us triumphant, be blessed by our Almighty.

Good afternoon and God bless us all.
